Rama is Looking for A New Connection and a Wonderful Home

Rama is a sweet and well-trained 16 yr. old quarter horse who has lived and played with us for the past 5 years.  We bought him from a farm in Texas where he had an overly full life of competing in reining competitions non-stop before we brought him to Colorado.  We have only ever used natural horsemanship training with him over the years and have noticed a complete energetic shift in his being as a result.  He still has a few little quirks but is an exceptional riding horse for an experienced rider.  We’ve ridden and worked with him with two beginner riders over the years though with lots of good success on trail rides, in the arena, etc.   He’s been a family horse with different age riders, is very sweet natured and wants to please, loves attention and affection, is always the first to come say hello, but not at all pushy and is incredibly gorgeous.  He’s super sweet, has incredible ground manners, a little insecure when he’s separated from the herd, likes to know what’s expected of him, can be really sensitive to cues (which is why he’s better with experienced rider) and likes a very soft touch.  He neck and direct reins, is completely bomb proof with the farrier.  He’s been barefoot his entire time with us. Our herd lives on a Paddock Track and all have excellent hooves.  He’s a good keeper, never gaining too much weight in the summer and handles cold winters well (without blankets) up in the Rocky Mtn. foothills.  We pasture on mountain meadow grass and feed grass hay, no supplements.  His parasite count is low and we’ve normally only wormed with all natural wormers.

We paid $7500 for him in 2013 but would be willing to take offers from someone who can give him a great and loving home.  We’re looking for someone who can give him a loving home and a job, even if that’s just light riding, training and grooming.  It’s important that his new home provide gentle training methods and not work him to death like he experienced in the competitive scene.  He responds well to one human bond, so ideally, he would become one person’s partner.  He would most likely do best with at least one other horse but is happy in whatever size herd.  He’s lived with our 6-8 and has spent a little time with a much larger herd (when we boarded him one winter).

We’re happy to talk with you any time about Rama and his personality.  He’s had a workshop with Anna Twinney along with our other horses as well as participated in several Liberty horsemanship clinics.

We found some old video footage of Rama from a few years ago. Autumn was a trainer we worked with and she was helping us try to find a home for him at the time.  Right after this, we did a liberty workshop with Rama and Autumn, and decided to keep him with us for my son and I to continue riding.   Again, our reason for looking for a home now is that we’re living in Kauai most of the year and we have other horses that my wife and two daughters ride.  My son and I aren’t riding anymore and we feel like Rama will enjoy having a connection with someone.

Reiki Healing Energy Needed to Support Tender Souls in California

Every so often we get requests for Reiki Practitioners who are skilled at sending distance Reiki to help with healing animals whose stories touch our lives and hearts in some way.

These are three such souls.  If you practice Reiki and have time to send healing support, we would be mighty grateful to you!

Dearest Reiki Angels,
Please send Healing Reiki Energy to these three souls for our friend, Virginia Jablonski (Ginny), of Chino Valley, AZ.  Ginny traveled to California in response to the fires to help support the energetic needs of the animals there.  She provides us with three sweet souls who could use our support:
This is Barry Boy. He has a fractured Patella. He has suffered depression and has tension in his neck due to compensation. He needs to know he is loved.
Barry Boy is located in Valley Center, CA at a rescue.
Barry
This is Lucy.  She is 18.5 hand Shire Draft sent to a rescue in Ramona. She gave birth 3 years ago and has not been able to walk properly since. I have done healing, had a massage therapist do free work, and had a DC do a free adjustment for her in the past week. She is lifting her legs better, not dragging her feet and entire pasterns, but needs ongoing support to retrain her pelvis, hips and SI to stay in place.
Lucy is located in Ramona, CA at a sanctuary.

This is Shelby.  She is a rescue dog who has had several traumatic incidents in her life, has low self esteem, and is truly an emotional train wreck. She just wanted me to lie down with her on the floor. There are layers of abuse, memories and emotions that she is carrying.
Shelby is located in Valley Center, CA at a private home. She lives with 6 other rescue dogs.

Shelby

Thank you to everyone who supports ROTH’s healing circle as a Reiki Angel!  We honor your commitment to bettering the world with your healing love!

February 11th-17th 2018

Join Anna on an adventure of a lifetime in the tropical paradise of Costa Rica!

As the founder of Reach Out to Horses, Anna, has brought you to the mountains of Wyoming, the desert of the Wild West and the exquisite landscape of the French countryside. Now she is excited to announce her return to paradise and she is pulling out all the stops to make this a special trip for all who join her.

Welcome to the next Healing Journey In Paradise retreat in Costa Rica.  Located in Costa Rica’s tropical rainforest, Lake Arenal and the Arenal Volcano are a sightseer’s dream.  While traveling within this part of the country, immersed in an idyllic jungle setting, this amazing retreat provides you with an opportunity to experience Costa Rica at its fullest! Howler monkeys, toucans and macaws, sloths, pizotes, hundreds of bird species, as well as the beautiful tropical flora, make this location a nature lover’s paradise!  And that is just the backdrop for your life-changing adventure

During this weeklong retreat you will learn true, trust-based horsemanship, one of the most popular healing arts in the world, Reiki, and explore the world of Animal Communication, all while vacationing in one of the most beautiful vacation spots in the world.

What is in store for you when you join us in February of 2018?

Day 1 – Arrive in Costa Rica

Arrive at the beautiful Majestic Lodge, your tropical home away from home!  Nestled in a cove on the Lake Arenal with spectacular views of the Volcano and Lake, this warm and inviting Lodge offers you comfort and relaxation.  After arriving, enjoy the Jacuzzi with a cocktail and have dinner on the open-air deck, while enjoying the grand view of the Arenal Volcano. You will sleep in the luxury of orthopedic beds and air-conditioned rooms and awake to the beautiful sounds of the various, tropical birds, and the morning call of the nearby Howler monkeys.

Day 2 – Learn the Most Popular Healing Art in the World!

Start the day with a “typical Costa Rican breakfast” followed by a day learning the popular healing art of Reiki with unimaginable views and extraordinary energy!

Reiki, translated from Japanese as “Universal Life Force”, is already used in clinics, private practices and hospitals all around the world.

Many people from all walks of life have awoken to the amazing benefits that Reiki can provide.

Developed as a healing art in early 20th century Japan, Reiki is a holistic, non-invasive technique that heals on all levels of the body, mind and spirit. In addition it can enhance other modalities of healing, both traditional and alternative, alleviate pain and has been proven to reduce stress in both humans and animals.

With this unique style of energy healing you can:

·      Alleviate stress, fears, worry and frustrations
·      Assist the body in cleansing different types of toxins
·      Help people break unwanted habits or conditions like smoking, overeating and alcoholism
·      Work on anything from your pets, houseplants and even your computer!
·      And more…

You will discover exactly what Reiki is, how to use it to heal yourself and others, and be certified and attuned to Reiki I certification.

Topics covered during the workshop include:
·      Level I Attunement
·      Reiki registers and energy movement
·      The Proper Use of Reiki
·      Starting a Reiki Practice
·      Body and Energy Scanning
·      Chakras: What they are and how to use them

And everyone who attends the workshop gets a full Reiki healing session so you can experience the amazing power of Reiki for yourself. Through Anna’s fun, powerful and nurturing style she will guide you to your full potential and help you discover what you might never even have thought possible!

Whether you haven’t worked with Reiki before, feel it’s time to take the next step or you want to take your Reiki practice to the next level, this is the perfect location to begin your journey of Reiki.

And that’s just the first day!

Day 3 – Morning – A little bit of T.L.C.  Spend the morning horse whispering! Experience Anna’s unique ROTH methodologies based around her step-by-step safety system.  Become intimate, support in their relaxation, come to understand your horse’s past experiences, and begin the process of building a trusting partnership and getting to know your horse before you gain their permission to ride in the rainforest. Incorporate visualization, body language, feel, timing, and more, as you explore these trust-based exercises.

Afternoon – Rancho Margo Ride!  Your first ride in Costa Rica will take you far up into the mountains and through the tropical rainforest to capture beautiful views of nature and pastureland. Be prepared to see an array of tropical wildlife, Toucans, Monkeys, Sloths, Pizotes and various species of birds. The views of the Arenal Volcano and natural rainforest can’t be beat!

On the way into the jungle, we will stop for a late lunch at Rancho Margot, an eco-ranch that is the very model of self-sustainability.  Almost everything they serve is grown on their farm and all their meat comes from their own free range chickens, and free roaming cattle. The lunch is an open buffet, with fresh salads, vegetables, meats and pizza.

Day 4 – Dances with Horses – After enjoying a fresh and healthy breakfast, we will jump into the “deep end” of equine communication – the obstacle course.   The obstacle course is one of the most effective instruments in horsemanship and you will join your equine partner at liberty to discover not only the complexity of the language of Equus but also your authentic self!

You will learn how to communicate effectively with your horse energetically as well as through intricate movements, gaining the partnership and connection you’ve always desires.

Anna developed the obstacle course over 18 years ago.  Since then thousands of her students from all over the world have worked with the obstacle course for a myriad of purposes.

You will apply this safe and effective training approach to all interactions with your horses, while at the same time determining a deeper understanding of your horse’s learning style.  Not only will Anna show you how to read the subtleties of your horse’s body language and direct your horse on the ground but she will enlighten you to the specific life lessons your horse wants you to know!

Once the day is done, you will enjoy watching the sunset with cocktail in-hand at the hot tube before another mouthwatering dinner overlooking Arenal lake and contemplating the life lessons the horses brought to you this day.

Day 5 – Animal Communication and the waterfall ride you will never forget!

Animal communication is just a belief away! After a delicious breakfast, on the open-air deck, overlooking the Volcano, Anna will introduce you to the amazing world of Animal Communication.  You will explore your inherent gifts and discover how to telepathically connect and communicate with a being of another species.

With this heart-to-heart connection you will uncover a new wordless language of love, a language of thoughts, images, feelings, emotions and other intuitive senses.

Next be sure to bring your camera (or smartphone).  We will join Lilander and our horses and go on a 4-hour horseback ride to a beautiful, tropical waterfall tucked deep in the jungle. After a 2-hour ride up, up, up, into the primary rainforest, we will reach the top of the mountain where you will tie up your horses and hike down to the waterfall.

Here you can enjoy a refreshing swim, and relax with beautiful, bountiful nature.  The water, and the spectacular flora and fauna will create an experience you will never forget.

We will have our picnic lunch by the waterfall and then hike back up to our horse partners.  Enjoy lunch surrounded by the pristine, natural world before connecting with the wild ones.  You will explore the magical gifts from our messengers – the animals themselves.

In the afternoon we head back, returning to the Majestic Lodge for a hot soak, or refreshing swim and relax before dinner.  In the evening we will go out for dinner to one of our favorite spots in Costa Rica!

Day 6 – Reiki; Energy Healing for Horses.

One of energy healing’s most effective and astounding uses is in the healing of animals. Horses, and animals in general, are great clients for energy work because they don’t have any preconceived notions or skepticism that often get in the way of human receptivity. An animal is simply present to the experience.

You will learn how to:
·    Ask for “permission” from your animal companions
·    Set up a safe energy healing session
·    Scan your horse’s body
·    Locate the energy centers of the body, known as the chakras
·    Listen to your horse and read his body gestures
·    Facilitate “love lessons”
·    Recognize the duration of sessions

We have found that most horses love Reiki and other forms of energy work. They will quite often relax into the healing session, lower their heads, keeping a leg cocked in a relaxed position, and even close their eyes as they enjoy the sensation. Many times you can even hear their stomachs gurgle as the healing energy flows through them, clearing energy blocks as it goes. And when they have had enough, they will usually let you know by “waking up” and sometimes even walking away.

Anna will show you the most effective way to apply your practice and your skills to the horse. This is also a great opportunity to review your skills if you are a little rusty or maybe feel like you need a little more instruction. Improve your skill set, increase your confidence, and heal some horses!

The information you will learn comes directly to you from Anna and her decades of knowledge and experience.

Day 7 – Ride with ROTH on the Lake Arenal Trek!

You will embark once again for a stunning rainforest trail ride with your equine partner. Your guides will show you all the amazing flora and fauna along the way! We will travel the lake road taking in the vibrant, green forest that surrounds us.

You will cross over Cano Negro River and head down into the river belt and its lush grasslands and abundant bird life.  The nature here is peaceful with a calm dignity. The low hum of the cicadas will remind you of ancient times. You will experience a deep feeling in the core of your very being, living in the moment, in tune with nature. After a refreshing ride with our equine partners you will be treated to a nice boat ride across Lake Arenal, a last opportunity to enjoy the lake and say goodbye before you return to the Majestic Lodge.

Day 8 –Depart Costa Rica or CHOICE ADDITION; Relax in the tropics!

Heading back to San Jose or Liberia in your air con private transfer, the sadness you may feel as you head back home can easily be allayed by getting busy planning your next trip with us!

OR After breakfast choose between the many adventurous activities to do in the Arenal area.  Rappelling and canyoning for exhilaration and exercise!  Guided hikes through the rainforest and around the volcano, for bird and animal watcher enthusiasts!  Butterfly and Reptile Conservatories and much more!  Or simply stay at home, enjoy a massage, got to the hot springs, or whatever activity you desire, before having dinner at the return to Majestic Lodge.

As you can see, this is truly a trip of a lifetime that you don’t want to miss.  One that you will experience nowhere else. We have very limited space and we are confident that this adventure will sell out very quickly.  So if you are interested in joining us, I wouldn’t wait long to make your reservation.

My ROTH Trainer’s Path–“When the Student Is Ready, the Teacher Appears”

I can’t say that I remember signing up for Anna’s newsletters… but I was receiving them.  I remember opening one and feeling like the timing was perfect. The content spoke to me and offered something I could participate in from home, a webinar series on Holistic Horsemanship. This felt serendipitous, having recently become more involved with horses again. My mom and I loved the webinars, but I soon realized that I wanted and needed more in person — hands on experience with these methodologies. So, I went to Colorado to take the 2.5-day intro clinic and I loved it.

I grew up riding horses back east. My grandmother enrolled me in riding lessons every summer as a young girl. Gymkana, jumping, vaulting, trail rides and more. I loved the horses and my teacher.

Upon graduating from college with a BA in Documentary Studies and Photography, I moved to upstate New York and cared for my grandmother for 7 years.  After she passed, I moved back to Placitas, New Mexico. There I was immersed in and introduced to a whole new world of wild horses. They were literally in my back yard. I photographed the mustangs, also known here as “wild” or “free-roaming” horses, every time our paths crossed.  It felt powerful and special to connect with them as my dog and I enjoyed our walks on the BLM land behind my home. I learned more about the bizarre and intense issues spawned by these community horses.

Two mares were hit and killed in the Placitas village after seeking water during an intense drought, and this prompted me to become involved. I began documenting the wild ones as well as the horses that had recently been rounded up. No longer “free-roaming,” they were transitioning to a life of domestication — confined, engaging in day-to-day interaction with humans, getting microchipped by the livestock board, trailered, moved, vetted, etc. I used all of my tools to support their transition, particularly an energy healing modality called Crystalline Consciousness Technique™.

The grey stallion that was rounded up with his remaining mares was the first to get gelded. He was still very wild, not touched or haltered. The approach was to squeeze him in a secure area to heavily sedate him — enough to have him gelded, vaccinated, and his hoofs trimmed. Long story short, he was given too many drugs and had a hard time recovering from the sedation.  Everything went wrong, and in the end he had to be shot. This was quite a traumatizing experience, and very heartbreaking. It impacted me hugely, and I vowed that I would do everything in my power to prevent something like that from happening again. It was clear to me that the mustangs would have to be handled, haltered, and gentled to some extent prior to getting gelded in order to ensure that the procedure be safe, with minimal trauma and not life threatening.

Anna and ROTH were exactly what I needed. The Universe lined it all up. I have embraced the ROTH program and the education, experience and support its offered me as I learn and grow in my journey adopting, raising, and gentling Placitas Mustangs.

Anna likes to say I did her course backwards. I started with the Untouched Horse Clinic before the Foundation Course because that was my primary focus. I’m grateful that I did, but I also realized that I was lacking skills and training that the foundation course covered. I attended the 3-day Liberty clinic which blew my mind as it introduced me to a whole new world with horses. I continued with ROTH, taking the Foundation courses (1 and 3) and graduating in Fall, 2015.

I was granted the opportunity to take the Untouched Horse clinic one more time after doing part of the foundation and filling in the holes in my training. I enrolled in the Foal Gentling Clinic, and against my better judgement adopted my allocated foal because all the signs I received indicated that it was meant to be. I completed the Colt Starting Clinic, rumored to be the hardest. Indeed, it surprised me with a few firsts. I was kicked on day 1, and by the end of the week rode my first “baby”, a horse named Hopi. I then signed the contract and committed to the trainer’s program. Last month, I completed the NEW Simple Solutions Clinic and it exceeded my expectations. I loved everything about it. As I write this I am working on compiling my 20 case studies, done over the past few years, to submit for the Trainers Exams next month at Zumas Rescue Ranch in Colorado. My highlight is starting my own mustang Friendly, now five years old, under saddle with my ROTH sister Liv from Denmark for our Colt Start case study. What an exciting and fulfilling experience for us all! Friendly was also my first horse gelded (when he was 2) after the passing of the grey stallion. I was nervous, so I took my time and made sure he was haltered and ready and that I had a vet team I could trust.

My mom and I now have two dozen mustangs (after all the babies were born). They are our world, and have been for the past 3 years. We have received funding assistance from Animal Protection New Mexico, and have gelded three of our colts thus far — all free from complications.

Studying with ROTH has empowered me on many levels. Understanding the psychology and nature of the horse, and using it to support them in a trust-based partnership resonates with me on a core level. I trust that I was ready and that the perfect teacher, Anna, was placed in my path to help me and the horses I was adopting and raising. The timing was perfect to support a journey I never would have predicted. I believe completing the trainer’s exams will be a jump start for creating my own business as I move forward using all of my tools — holistic horsemanship, energy healing, essential oils and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of humans and horses!
