Our Gratitude Speaks when We Care and We Share the ROTH Way

As a result of the many donations Anna sends we often get lovely expressions of gratitude that come seemingly out of the blue!  It always brings a smile to our faces and warms our hearts to know that people are enjoying learning about the methods and bringing the message to their volunteers and other cooperating organizations.

We also got this message on Facebook from a student of the methods, Cynthia Lawson Greene of Sumner, MI, who was able to apply what she learned in Foals In Training DVD to her Mustang, Scarlet:

“Anna, we have your DVD set on foal training…we have applied it to gentling out mustang, Scarlet. I never thought about running and massaging the ears and surrounding area…Thank you. First time I did Scarlet pulled away some but now I can touch them at will…she is a sweetheart…thank you!”

Cynthia, we are SO pelased to hear that the FIT methods were easily applicable to Scarlet!  Thank YOU for offering a good home to the Mustangs!  We sincerely appreciate those of you who do.

This is just one more testimonial to the fact that the ROTH methods are NOT A COOKIE-CUTTER SYSTEM, but rather a methodology based in the language of Equus, which can be applied to each horse individually based on their learning style, likes/dislikes, personality, character and personal history.  When we use the language of the horse to speak and to request their collaboration, it eliminates the barriers that other “training systems” can create.  We are always thrilled to get messages of gratitude!  Thanks again, Cynthia, for Reaching Out to Share in the Success!

A Tribute to God’s Great Creation

After making the little girl, God said:

“You’ll need something to lean on. Something with substance that will teach you the value of hard work, perseverance, and to never give up. A thing that won’t cast judgment when you mess up in life. Because you will often, it’s just part of growing up and becoming a decent human.

You’ll need something whose impressive physical presence must be respected at all times. A being who could break your bones in a whisper but will never break your heart. A creature who will be there for you when you cry for hours after someone you love lets you down. A nonspeaking, breathing being that will teach you to check all the noise in your head and completely listen to what he is saying.

Sometimes in life you need to let go and just hang on. I call this trust. The terrifying ability to follow something blindly out of the conviction of only your heart. It will keep you centered and restore your faith when life happens. When you realize that you are forgettable to the world you won’t be to this creature.

Something that will keep you truly humbled yet teach you how to fly!

You need to understand the painful reality of death. Sometimes it’s OK to let go. That kindness will always be rewarded before the use of force. And that courage means trusting him to get you safely to the other side.

Something to get you out of bed in the trying times. When you feel like you have nothing he will remind you that you are still wanted. Something to give you perspective about what’s really important in life.

You’ll need a best friend. Do not take this relationship lightly. It just might save your life someday when you see no out. Treasure it always I’m trusting it to you to take care of for a reason.

A creature who will restore your faith about all of the goodness in the world even when you are so broken down that you cast Me aside.

In turn with time and healing he will bring you back to Me. Know that your struggle won’t be made alone, and don’t forget to enjoy the ride.

So I will make a horse.”
This poem is dedicated to all of the horses in our lives who make each day a little sweeter, each year worth smiling about when we reflect, and who give us a multitude of reasons each day to be in gratitude for all the love we have in our lives.  Surely no greater creature exists….

A Month Dedicated to Giving and Receiving Thanks

A Special “Thank You” came from Zuma’s Rescue Ranch, a rescue with whom we are SO  BLESSED to partner year after year.

“Every Year ROTH brings their training methods and clinics to Zuma’s, paying a facility fee and assisting with the training of horses. These clinics and the funding they generate help to offset the cost of the healing herd here at Zuma’s, as well as assist in getting some of the herd trained.”
To Jodi and the Zuma’s Staff, we return the gratitude as you always provide us a magnificent facility and wonderful horses with whom to practice and share the methods.  We certainly appreciate all you do for the horses.  A very sincere and heart felt thank you right back at you guys!

Recounting the blessings along the way…

Solar Eclipses are known to bring about transformation, new beginnings and changes. Their potency can sometimes be intimidating, but it is important to remember that they always put us on the right path. The influence of this Solar Eclipse, it will be important to go with the flow and not be in a hurry to make key decisions or judgements about something. But one thing is for certain, after the passing of this Eclipse, the truth will slowly be revealed….  For me, it’s been an extraordinary, amplified, and intense time…journey with us.

Eclipse

The last few weeks of my life have been exceptional, spending my summer in CO, CA, and OR, supporting the rescue and sanctuary horses.  I’m touched by the enthusiastic response I have been getting and the dedication of those around me.
Our family and tribe continue to expand with amazing folks joining the call of the horse who believe in me and in ROTH.  We have laughed together, shed tears together, created everlasting relationships and made memories.  Our hearts have been touched and filled and we have inspired many to see the horses for who they truly are while exploring their own innate abilities and inner strength.  I have giggled upon hearing some of our “inside” jokes and felt deep compassion and pride as I watched my students excel.  I rose to the challenge of being out-of-touch with my rock of a husband when my phone fried. Still, his unconditional love never leaves me.
During quiet times I realize my inner strength and drive and I give gratitude for these gifts.  There is not a day that goes by while I’m on the road where I don’t think of my family, dogs, horses, and my home, and although I miss them deeply I count my many blessings.
Today, watching the eclipse within nature together with friends marks one of these occasions.  It’s a beautiful world and it’s my hope that you all got to embrace the chance to share in these moments and all the others that touch you deeply.  Where were you on this August day?

The indomitable Willow and her friend, Kate.

Anna,
Thank you so much for all you do! I thought you might get a kick out of this! I wrote a little intro to Willow through pics, by Willow… Here it is…

Hi Kate! I’m Willow, mom gave me this name because I am a fighter, one who bends but doesn’t break. Mom hit the nail on the head with that one. This is me tonight, I just woke up! My buddy Leo watched the stall while I laid down. I lay down often, there’s a lot of comfy, sunny spots around here. The vet says that my CK (creatine) values are high because I lay down a lot.
Here’s a couple pics of me. I have a big belly, mom and the vet say its because I eat a lot, but can’t absorb the nutrition. I dig for grass in the snow with my brothers. They’re pretty good to me, except Stryker when he’s hungry, but mom makes sure that I get 2 warm meals alone a day and we have free choice hay 🙂 .
This is what I looked like when I thought no one was looking.

This is what I looked like the night mom came and got me. That’s my friend Daisy, she found a home that night too. I had an open wound that ran along my shoulder blade. I had all of the same bed sores that I have now, they were much smaller then.
The first picture is when I finally made it home on May 2016. This is me when most of my winter coat was shed August 2016. It’s my right side. My left side has all of my sores except one that you can see on my hip!
6
These are my biggest three bed sores, the one on my chest itches, but it hasn’t fallen off yet. The two on the back bleed a lot, the vet says that I lose a lot of blood through my sores and so I am anemic. Four tumors have fallen off of my body since mom pulled me off of the lot, they are still there, but are flat. Mom treats the small tumors with Xterra which burns, but my sores don’t get any bigger. Now she only does one tumor at a time, it’s much better. My small tumors are painful to the touch, but my large tumor on my neck isn’t, in fact mom scratches my skin above it and holds the mass to relieve the pull on my neck, it feels good. The vet said they can’t surgically remove it because it might make a bigger tumor grow in it’s place.

Lucky says hi!

Dear Anna,

I was delighted to receive your DVD, “In Partnership with Horses,” and I look forward very much to watching it.

You are spot on in your analysis of the challenges facing many of us in the EAAT community.  We have been working with Parelli for several years, and I don’t know where we would be without natural horsemanship.

Looking forward to being in contact!

And from Windrush Farm in Andover, MA:

Thank you for the anonymous in-kind gift to Windrush Farm.

Your kind support enables our amazing clients to experience the benefits of horseback riding and spending time with our wonderful therapy horses.

Gratefully,

Janet Nittman, CEO

We are still expressing our gratitude to all of the Non-Profits who work in the Equine Facilitated Therapy and Equine Facilitated Learning areas.  We seek to support the horses who have given their lives to support us in our efforts.  In Partnership with Horses is still available FREE to qualifying Non-Profit Organizations.  If you suspect you qualify please send us an email at info@reachouttohorses.com and we will verify and send one straight away to support you and your efforts.  Again, thank you for all you do and much gratitude and love to the horses and people who selflessly serve in these roles in our lives.

We are Grateful to REACH Riding Center for Sharing Their Hope, Their Work, and Their Gratitude with Us!

Dear Mrs. Twinney:

We received your DVD (In Partnership with Horses) yesterday, and I watched it tonight.

Thank you SO much for sending this!

We are a very small PATH Center, but also a Horse Rescue (New Hope Horse Rescue, Inc.).

I LOVE that you have all kinds of behavior interpretation info for the riding center and rescue.  We try to use the horses that we rescue in our therapeutic program, REACH Riding Center, hence the name- Rescued Equines Assisting Challenged Humans (REACH).  Some of your techniques are in use here…..and I am glad to be able to use this info as a teaching reference for all of the horses.

Our horses come in all different shapes, sizes, and states; some were ridden to the kill pen, and abandoned there. Some have had injuries, or been starved, and had to be brought back to health, before their behavior and previous training can be evaluated, corrected, and before they can be adopted out, or integrated into our program.

We have a couple that I have started to use in our program which have subsequently been homed out-another  2 will be going to another PATH Center in a few weeks.

As my husband is a horse trainer, part time, we don’t have to hire out for that, but as you know, that’s not sufficient for a horse that will be used for therapeutic or able bodied riding lessons.

It is left to me to voice train our horses, so that when students are on them, I still have control of the horse by voice.  We have been blessed to have some awesome horses come to us.

We are still growing our program- we have 8 students right now, some of which have autism, and one with cerebral palsy.  I am praying for the day that I can work our program full time, as I am now a full time Alzheimer Caregiver Specialist, in private homes, and I don’t feel like I can do the extra programming things I need to do, when I only have 3 days a week to be here.  I love that you understand that the horses are our most important resource, and we need to more fully understand them, and allow them to become more than instruments that we use- they are our partners in this endeavor to provide a service to our community.

This is a ministry to me, and I ache to provide as comprehensive a program as I can- for the horses and our clients.  I love that you believe that if you are honest and true to your purpose, and all involved, it will all culminate into the dream we envision.

I will be using more of your techniques, as I train replacement horses for the 2 that are leaving, and train some wild mustangs which have come in from the BLM for our pleasure riding.  My hope is that as we use more of your techniques, we can more fully understand our horses, which will facilitate a smoother transition for them, whether it be into our program, or into a new home.

Thank you again, for your DVD.

Best wishes for the holiday season, and the new year.

Most Sincerely,

Diana Rogers
