A Voice for the Voiceless, A Balm for Hearts, A Boost for Good Causes, A Time to Expand

Anna Twinney’s lifelong quest to create harmony for humans and horses expands to public speaking

Elizabeth, Jan 17, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  – It is the off-travel season for veteran equine professional Anna Twinney and yet it’s her peak season behind the scenes as she creates the New Year’s calendar, launches online courses and writes books. Her winters are cherished times with her young son, Joseph, and her husband, Vincent. The rest of the year, Anna is rarely home. Her passion, her business, and her moral directive take her around the globe to help people and horses connect on a deeper level, for multiple purposes. While her travels will never completely cease, the future will see Anna embracing new opportunities to share her message in story form, on the stage. With one book published and another one in the queue, be on the lookout for Anna Twinney on the speaking circuit in the near future.

Anna realizes the power of making a life-changing difference in just touching one life.  “It’s time to expand and reach more people”, Anna explains. “We are limited with the amount of change we can make through workshops. The experiences I’ve had, the lessons I’ve learned from a lifetime of helping people find themselves so they can connect with animals has given me so many powerful stories of hope, love, kindness, wisdom, inspiration, and insight. Times are intense and turbulent. Imagine the impact yet to be made through collaboration. I’m looking forward to working from a stage and helping hundreds if not thousands of people with these talks,” she continued.

Anna started her career with the idea that she’d combine her experience as a police officer with horsemanship in order to help her fellow officers, military veterans, and survivors of traumatic experiences. Her natural talent for teaching, along with her insight into equine behavior blossomed into a perpetual world tour and a revolution in horsemanship. While her heart truly knows no borders, she’s most fulfilled when she’s working to help those who’ve given of themselves to protect and serve others.

Each year, Anna works with dozens of nonprofits to create events to elevate skill and knowledge surrounding horses (as well as other animals). Nearly all of those events are designed to help raise funds to assist the charities in their work. In an effort to expand her reach, Anna put together a DVD titled, “In Partnership with Horses” and offered it at no charge to one thousand facilities around the globe. The DVD is still available. Anna’s schedule, however, is full. She’s booked solid, often 18 to 24 months in advance.

A Beautiful Partnership

Most often, Anna takes her clinics and courses to rescues and sanctuaries in order to help the horses who have yet to find their forever homes achieve a greater opportunity to do so.  One rescue with whom we have worked for many, many years here in Colorado is Zuma’s Rescue Ranch in Littleton.  Zuma’s has been our host for Colt Starting, the Holistic Horse Course, the ROTH Trainer’s Exams and our Trainer’s Demo Day, Reiki for Horses, Animal Communication, and a number of other events from speaking engagements and fund raisers, to one-day clinics.

Zuma’s embodies the mission that drives Anna and ROTH to keep reaching out, to keep healing, and to keep helping.  We would like to thank Jodi, Paul, and all the staff at Zuma’s, inlcuding Liz Cotrell and our own ROTH Trainer in Training, Carmen Brander.  We salute the work you do each day in the lives of so many to rest them, rehabilitate them, and to reignite the love of life and the possibility for connection between all animals and people.  Thanks for all you do.

Yet to come this year at Zuma’s is the Weekend of Animal Communication with RMSAAM, Part III of our Holistic Horse Course, and Reiki Healing for Horses, in addition to our Sunday talks with ROTH Trainers.  For details and to register, please visit our events calendar here: http://www.reachouttohorses.com/events.html

A Day in the Life of the Youngest Animal Whisperer

header image with words

If you have visited us here at the Reach Out Ranch, you have undoubtedly had the pleasure of meeting the smallest and yet most notable member of our family, Joseph. Each day we nurture his sixth sense and encourage his natural abilities to talk to all creatures great and small. I hope this newsletter gives you some ideas on how you can do the same for your little one.

Precocious, gregarious, and a teacher at heart, like many kids of his generation, Joseph has a light in his eyes, a song in his step, and an infectious smile that extends far beyond the edges of his body.

Joseph is not just a free spirit, he is very well-educated in many topics. From dinosaurs to bugs and other species of animals, he has an insatiably inquisitive mind. And, like any respectable wizard, he is well versed in the ways of Hogwarts and muggles.

Always creative, “Jojo” can make an adventure out of anything. Whether he is a wizard, a superhero, or Coyote Joseph (the character he plays while emulating his favorite YouTube wildlife expert, Coyote Peterson) he explores the bounds of the ranch and his imagination.

Nature is his classroom and the animals his teachers. The outdoors provides him with life-altering experiences and imagination is the key to expanding the mind and making the impossible possible.

He loves making videos and has begun creating educational videos of his own to document his exploration and adventures.  It’s our hope these short videos engage your children, create a platform for you to return to nature with them and learn to listen to the animals.

So we dedicate this chilly December Newsletter to our beloved Joseph and all children, may the Holiday season remain magical for you for many, many, MANY years to come.

Watch Below: A Day in the Life of a Ranch Kid, Episode 1.

As the son of a horse whisperer and entrepreneur, his life is exposed to extraordinary situations, circumstances, and adventures.  He is connected to the land, the animals and nature. Ranch life becomes a way of being and he embraces experiential learning. It goes beyond the “norm” to encompass all 6 senses, enhancing connection, communication, and collaboration with all life.

Watch Below, Video #2 in Joseph’s series:

A day in the life of a ranch kid; reins to a richer life.
He connects organically with the animals. Naturally, he communicates without ego. He awakens love within others.  He speaks their language; both verbal and silently. He shares his words of wisdom with his Spanish Mustang, Excalibur, for other children to experience a true connection with their horse partners.

A Day in the Life of a Ranch Kid

When you are raised where all the animals are part of the family, you know no different.  They teach him about their lifestyles, culture, language, and above all, about himself.  He learns trust, respect, boundaries, compassion, leadership, communication, balance, discipline, body language, expressions, care and unconditional love ~ for himself and all those around him.

An Award That Touched My Heart & A Poem From the Heart

IMG_1759 (002).jpg

On the evening of the Trainer’s Day, Zuma’s Celebrated their 10th Anniversary with a masquerade ball.  Paul and Jodi humbly expressed their gratitude to all the people who help contribute to Zuma’s efforts, and one notable mention was ROTH and Anna.

“For 9 years, Anna and the ROTH Methods have been a big part of Zuma’s platform.  Together, Anna, Katie, and Jodi have spent hours discussing and taking action upon ways to make the world a better place through compassionate equine education programs.  Anna’s clinics and courses at Zuma’s have generated much-needed training for horses and humans, along with funding in the process.  Anna’s presence at Zuma’s has brought global donors to our mission by way of international student participation in ROTH at Zuma’s.  Partnerships like ours have been mutually beneficial for both ROTH and Zuma’s.  The horses receive training, revenue, and sponsorship, and ROTH expands its training methods to Zuma’s base of supporters.”

And to Anna and Vin,

“As you develop your awareness in nature, you begin to see how we influence all life and how all life influences us.  A key and critical feature for us to know.”  -Tony TenFingers/Wanbli Nata’u, Ogalala Lakota

Walking amongst the silent ones at Zuma’s we are keenly aware of the positive influence your contributions and generosity have had on all of our lives.  Thank you for your kindness and your gifts.

In Peace and Gratitude,

Jodi & Paul

Jodi’s husband, Paul, also read a poem that he composed on behalf of the decades of efforts on Jodi’s part for all of the animals.  Enjoy!

By the edge of the pines, at the foot of Wendy’s Hill,
is a place called Zuma’s, where time stands still.
Where the friends of woman and man do run,
when their time of despair is over and done.

For here, between this reality and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait, learn and play,
til The Rainbow Bridge (Adoption) they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.

They trot through the grass without even a care,
til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.

For just at that second, there’s no room for remorse.
As they see each other…one person…one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over to forever…together.

Our Newly Certified Trainers Share…

Some of our trainers from this year have been with Anna for decades.  Their journeys have taken them across the U.S., and most have spent weeks, if not months, away from home to complete their certifications.

Here are a few words from three of this year’s new crop!

From ROTH Certified Trainer, Staci Grattan, MN:

“Six years, thousands of miles, countless days away from loved ones, a positive difference made in many equine lives, friendships, connections, stretched in ways I couldn’t possibly imagine, personal growth on a beautiful and sometimes painful scale, capturing joy, joining a tribe and realizing a goal and dream. A visual of the culmination.”

“Eve and Staci on the Reach Out to Horses Train the Trainer exams today at
Zuma’s Rescue Ranch in Littleton, Colorado. We are working our way through remedial issues including her strong objections to worming & vaccinations. (Can’t say we blame her) Eve is at Zuma’s as a part of the #brush23 group of horses rescued from an animal hoarding situation that turned into a rush to save them from the kill pen. Eve is a 7-year-old Thoroughbred mare.”

From ROTH Conditional Certified Trainer, Laura Schumann. OH:
“And so…after a long and wonderful journey….conditional means I choose not to do all possibilities, such as colt starting. Bottom line…this is a hard-won completion leading to the beginning of the next step on this amazing journey. Standing in my power. Living fully,
 in authenticity.”

Below is Laura ponying Sage, who had never been ponied before.

And from ROTH Certified Trainer, Carolina Bärtsch, AZ:

“A dream come true! There are many ways to interact with horses, few seem fitting to me. This certificate is a milestone on a long journey to treat the animals right. Reach Out to Horses is a very modern, extremely comprehensive and compassionate approach. Well worth the effort, returns are incredible. Stay tuned, more about this to come as I venture on.”
