We start with two testimonials from our most recent Colorado Clinic at Mounting Miracles Ranch in Lafayette, CO.
From Jan D. at Mounting Miracles:
I attended Anna’s Confident Horse, Confident Rider 2-day Clinic with my 6-year-old Mustang who I adopted from an Untouched Horse Course with Anna 5 years ago. I’ve attended a lot of Anna’s courses and clinics and am no stranger to her techniques. And yet, because of the human and horse dynamic, every clinic is different and special. I was struck anew by two things in this clinic:
First, Anna’s ability to assess both horse and human is remarkable. She can quickly and accurately identify the message a horse’s behavior might be sending and work with the human on understanding and developing a plan to address the issue effectively. Just as clearly, and kindly, she is able to spot the slightest nuance in the handler’s movements or hear it in their self assessment and coach them to self confidence and success.
Secondly, Anna has always said that her techniques are not a “system.” Witnessing her work with people entirely new to her philosophy reminded me of the power of that fact. Some of the work we did was applied to all horses, as a way to assess the horse’s status and to develop trust and a few basic skills. From there, everything was driven by the horse’s need. In other words, each horse was viewed as an individual and no set “solution” was applied. One horse may be a little head shy and not want his ears touched. One approach is utilized to help him learn the value of letting the handler touch his ears. Another horse may be head shy and terrified of having her ears touched because she associates it with past trauma and rough handling. This horse will require a very different approach. Anna’s gift is in helping the handler develop a solution that works for that horse, through education and creative problem solving. The student is not just handed one solution, but taught to develop new solutions, based on knowledge and understanding.
I could go on and on about the fun atmosphere, the group bonding, and the supportive atmosphere. Both Arrow and I had a great time…
Lloyd M. of Brighton, CO shares:
In 2011, my wife Jan and I began the journey that changed our lives. We had been volunteering at a horse rescue where we observed Anna moving a horse at liberty in a round pen using only her eyes. We were hooked. We proudly completed the ROTH Comprehensive Holistic Horsemanship Modular Certification Course (HHC) in 2011. In February of 2012, we took the ROTH Foal Gentling Course with Anna in Tucson, AZ. These were PREMARIN foals Anna had rescued and the goal was to gentle them to become adopted. Anna assigned me the eight-month-old untouched buckskin; he was tall, always made his way to the front of the herd, and held his head high. This foal was an amazing old soul who easily picked up everything we worked on. I went home to Colorado after spending the week with him to contemplate what adopting him would entail. Head and heart agreed, he came to me in June and changed my life forever. He was awarded the name “Champ” because that is how he does everything! When he turned fours years old we took ROTH’s Colt Starting 101 together to start him under saddle. We decided to go back to our horse roots by attending ROTH’s Confident Horse, Confident Rider Clinic with Anna in June 2017. Champ has only known ROTH techniques, so with Anna’s keen eyes she was able to critique our relationship to get closer to our potential. I have always preferred groundwork to riding but Anna was able to get me the “a-ha” moment of how fun riding can be!
Because of Anna’s marvelous ability to connect to each person and horse, everyday is a good day starting out with haying our herd.

Anna then went from Colorado straight to Kalispell, Montana (affectionately termed “Kila” by residents) where she did An Evening of Animal Communication and hosted her 3 Days of Intuitive Riding Clinic.

She also did a breakthrough session of Animal Communication for a long-time friend and client of Reach Out to Horses, Nancy H., and her horse, Shanti. Here’s the scoop:
I was dealing with a scary horse crises that was 6 weeks on and getting worse. Anna did a communication session with Shanti that was detailed, spot on – captured Shanti’s heart, communication style, injuries, site of the accident, what happened, how it happened, the horse who caused it – and the fact it was just ‘an accident’… Every detail ‘spot on’ as I was there – although just inside getting more hay.
Nancy’s Summary of the incident and Shanti’s injury:
My horse had a puncture wound injury 5 weeks before the clinic. We had seen bizarre changes daily with edemas, air pillows under the skin-neck to lumbar, withers to belly along with a very lame leg that was swollen, not swollen, usable, and then not usable Just before the clinic was to start, Shanti had a bloody nose 2 nights in a row. Shanti was too lame to trailer but had been ultra sounded, radio graphed, monitored by the vet weeks before. I felt completely unsupported by the vet and results from onsite radio graphs, and was feeling frantic for the unexplained high pain level and continued changes. I begged Anna for a communication session even though I knew it was an unethical request. Anna was able to fit us in and 6 others listened in, one of whom was a care giver to Shanti for 2 years before she came to be with me.
The session was helpful and I felt much relief at the end. Shanti shared how and where the accident happened – which was spot on as to how I thought it must have unfolded but was doubting that scenario due to the major complications that kept springing up. Shanti shared that the puncture area was clean inside, that there was no lung infection or lung pain. That was excellent to know because due to the air under the skin this could have been caused by a broken rib, punctured lung, or massive infection. Anna parlayed information that was possible, and that needed to be checked out. Anna also set up a social media post where 100 people sent energy healing to Shanti. I chose to not trailer on a Sunday due to limited staff & testing that could be done. I set up a hauler on Monday. The trailer looked just as Anna said it would be shaped. This was the Montana Equine Emergency Ambulance. Shanti would not go in for any of us. Clearly her movement was better than it had been since the accident, adrenaline or otherwise, she ultimately made a choice to heal at home. She is moving around a bit more, standing taller, drinking more water and eating well. I am offering multiple modalities and trying to get a BEMER vet package to help the nerve damage heal. I do hope she gets her lovely trot back.
After feeling so frantic with the changes I was seeing in my horse even after doing all I could, I felt such relief with the information and gained confidence to move forward into the long rehab ahead of us. With all the skills, knowledge, and training I’ve gained, this accident was clearly outside of my confidence level. Anna sharing her gift was gigantic, valuable, and priceless. Our gratitude forever.

Nancy H. also participated in the Intuitive Riding Clinic and this is what she shared:
Another amazing total of 4 days spent with Anna Twinney. The time spent throughout this clinic was valuable beyond words. Educational, inspiring, soul connections, life lessons – life patterns brought to awareness and let go… Way more than riding…Everyone expressed major life changes this year, and we are ready for next year! I simply can’t say enough good things regarding this experience! I was able to take Starry on his own and he was perfect, calm, wise, and honored for who he is. He found a new best friend we’ll go riding with as well… Such tremendous growth and connection in our relationship.
The life lessons over the weekend created awareness and were life-changing. The obstacle course at liberty with 2 horses, and a team driving horses to move was a challenge in projecting energy and intent. Creating flowing energy and back-up energy and keeping that same energy in place as we moved together in a team – eyes on eyes first horse, then second horse, then shoulders square – ask for forward motion. Knowing where to be and what to do to back someone up was really tough for me. Took a long time to get it and this was humbling to get out of my head and finally move intuitively. I actually didn’t ride my horse this weekend. The TLC session went perfect with Starry – he was a completely different horse this year – due to the DePaolo Excel product I have him on. I have no reservations riding him, he and I will be just fine. The IRE (Intuitive Riding Experience) just gets richer each year. Collectively all the information sinks in, connects, makes sense and becomes a way of being. This year it all came together.
Who wouldn’t love to work in the great outdoors of picturesque, Kalispell, MT?
And shared by Brenda W. of Kalispell, MT
I love to feel passionate, inspired about my work on behalf of horses and humans, about being alive, especially connecting with and riding horses. But the truth is, after the loss of a life of almost daily riding, raising horses and mules, riding & packing in Glacier Park, and later the loss of my beautiful mare, I disconnected that confident, horse-woman part of myself. Add to the mix busyness, business building, and survival, I didn’t know how to get that part of me back. My current riding horse, Jett, and I, have had a frustrating dance over the past 12 years. It was a dance of “do we trust each other?” And each of us getting frustrated. Last weekend I participated in the Intuitive Riding Clinic with Anna and my passion that I let stand aside was re-ignited! Anna helped me identify what was truly standing in my way of having the connection and relationship that I crave with my horse! It was glorious to re-awaken that confident part of myself – get back to riding and connecting with my horse. This clinic was so much more than a clinic – it was a retreat that customized to our individual needs in horsemanship and in life lessons, including my greatest desire to ride Jett bareback. Over the past three years Anna has asked me why I am holding back. This year Anna and Jett opened the gate wide and I stepped through.
In deep gratitude,
Our lovely group of Intuitive Riding Clinic Attendees:
Thanks, as always, to the tireless Anna Twinney for everything she does. Anna even gives the Energizer Bunny a run for his bunny money….
