Parson Russell Zak was left completely blind following an eye infection and relies on fellow terrier Lilli to lead him everywhere.
He may not be suited to catching frisbees any more but when Lilli is around he acts like any other dog, sticking to the side of his companion who nudges him in the right direction.
The pair were taken in together as strays in 2001 but were abandoned last month when their previous owner moved abroad, unable to take the inseparable pooches with her.
Animal welfare group Blue Cross, which is having a rough time re-housing the ten-year-olds, has appealed for anybody keen on adopting Zak and Lilli to get in touch.
Sarah Bussell, of the charity, said: ‘They have to be re-homed as a pair. They seem to have an almost telepathic understanding.
‘Lilli stays by Zak’s side all the time and is very patient. She knows he is different to the other dogs.
‘They would give lots of affection to whoever adopts them.’
